Rider Switch

Disneyworld’s Rider Switch program allows parties to enjoy attractions even if some members of the group do not want to ride or are not able to ride. It’s commonly used by families with children who do not meet height requirements on certain rides, but it can be used in any situation when a guest of any age does not want to ride.

If a child does not meet the height requirement or a Guest does not wish to board a particular attraction, no problem! With Rider Switch, one adult can wait with the non-rider (or riders) while the rest of the party enjoys the attraction. When the other adult returns, they can supervise the non-riding Guests, and the waiting adult can board the attraction without having to wait in the regular line again!

1. Speak with a Cast Member at the attraction’s entrance and let them know you’re wanting to utilize Rider Switch. You’ll need to have your entire party with you when you speak to the Cast Member.

2. At least one adult plus up to two other guests (known by Disney as “Party 2”) are given a ride entitlement via the guests’ MagicBands or Admission Cards. Party 2 will wait in a designated area with the non-rider(s) to wait for the rest of their group (Party 1) to experience the ride.

3. Party 1 exits the ride and reunites with Party 2. Party 1 will now wait with the non- rider(s) while Party 2 returns to the ride entrance and speaks to a Cast Member to validate their Rider Switch entitlement.

4. Party 2 enters and boards the attraction without having to wait in the regular queue a second time. The Rider Switch entitlement must be validated by a Cast Member at this time.

Note: Please note that if the person in party 2 waited alone with the child or non-riding Guest, one Guest may join the person that waited alone.

If both parties are accessing Lightning Lanes, it is much simpler just to take turns going on the ride without trying to use Rider Switch.
